Gait & Orthotic Clinic | Cleveland Clinic Children's

Clinic Cleveland Children’s Gait and Orthotic (GO) Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic with the goal of maximizing your child’s walking and function. The clinic is designed for children with an identified gait deviation. Orthotics can be used as a temporary or permanent strategy to assist in improving safety and efficiency of gait. Orthotics can range from off-the-shelf devices to custom products. We can also prescribe functional electrical stimulation devices.

The GO Clinic includes a physiatrist, a physical therapist, a nurse practitioner and orthotist when indicated.

During the assessment, your child’s range of motion, tone, strength, posture, balance and gait will be evaluated. The team will collaborate with your child’s current therapist or recommend therapy services when necessary.

Following the assessment, the team will make recommendations unique to each child. These recommendations may include:

  • Modifications to your current orthotic
  • Initiate orthotic fitting
  • Manage orthotic follow-up care
  • Strategies to manage spasticity/tone
  • Home programming modifications
  • 3D gait analysis

Go Clinic occurs on the second Tuesday of each month. It is located at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation.
