Overview

Overview

Cleveland Clinic Children's provides art and music therapy as a complimentary service during your child's treatment at main campus, Hillcrest Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation. Art and music therapists are credentialed professionals who use clinical and evidence-based interventions. They are trained in their respective creative modalities, child development, and psychological theories and techniques. Art and music therapists complete supervised internships, pass examinations, and adhere to minimum standards for continued professional development. They adhere to ethical codes and standards from Cleveland Clinic and their respective credentialing bodies. Our therapists are integrated members of your child's care team.

Art therapy uses the application of visual arts, the creative process, and therapeutic techniques to enhance physiological, psychological and emotional well-being. Art therapists hold a Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

Music therapy, under the supervision of a board-certified music therapist, combines music and therapeutic techniques and aids in the physiological, psychological and emotional well-being of the individual during treatment of an illness. Music therapists hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
