Rebecca L. Vance, SPHR, is the senior human resources (HR) director for The Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence, Center for Connected Care and Pharmacy Department at Cleveland Clinic. She is a member of the HR Services team in Cleveland Clinic’s Caregiver Office. As an HR executive with more than 16 years of professional experience, Vance specializes in developing teams, building relationships, managing change, and creating HR strategies in support of business goals. She works as a collaborative partner with the leaders of the institutes and departments she supports, providing consultation and guidance related to workforce planning and development, workforce issues that impact operational strategy, employee engagement, succession planning and more.

Vance joined Cleveland Clinic in 2016 as an HR generalist. Within one year, she was promoted to HR director and held the role for seven years. As director, Vance led a team in the development and execution of HR strategy for the Nursing Institute with a specialized focus on HR needs for nursing at Cleveland Clinic main campus. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, she worked as an HR business partner for Mercy Health and an employment consultant for Kaiser Permanente. Vance earned her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, where she graduated summa cum laude. She holds certifications as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) and a professional in human resources (PHR) from the HR Certification Institute® (HRCI).

As an HR director, Vance was a trusted advisor to the Cleveland Clinic enterprise and main campus nursing leadership teams, directing and implementing leader development initiatives, increasing HR visibility throughout the nursing organization, and partnering with nurse leaders to develop and implement innovative solutions to meet workforce challenges.
