Cleveland Clinic in Florida Quarterly Update

Cleveland Clinic in Florida Quarterly Update

Dear Friends,

Warm greetings to you as you begin your return to our beautiful Sunshine State! I hope your journey back is pleasant and that you settle in comfortably for the season.

We continue to experience tremendous growth across the Florida region. Each year, the number of patients seeking our services increases. Most notably, from 2020 we have seen a 48% increase in surgical encounters and a 46% increase in office visits, follow-ups and consultations.

As demand for our services grows, we remain committed to increasing access to care. We continue to recruit highly qualified physicians to Cleveland Clinic in Florida with a focus on primary care providers. Between July and September, more than 20 primary care providers joined us throughout Florida.

This month, our highly successful Hospital Care At HomeSM (HCAH) program will launch at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital. Since HCAH began in 2023, we have provided care to more than 1,800 patients from Vero Beach to West Palm Beach. By expanding to Weston Hospital, this innovative model of care will allow South Florida patients the opportunity to recover and heal from the comfort of home.

Despite seeing more patients than ever, our caregivers remain focused on providing world-class care. Each of our five hospitals has seen great improvements in metrics related to safety, quality and patient experience. Our more than 12,000 Florida caregivers are dedicated to providing the highest level of care for our patients and ensuring Cleveland Clinic in Florida is the best place to receive care.

Additionally, I am proud to share we are bringing VeloSano to Florida! On Saturday, September 28, caregivers joined us for the inaugural Cleveland Clinic for the Cure benefiting VeloSano to run, walk or volunteer in support of lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. Latin for “swift cure”, VeloSano is Cleveland Clinic’s global fundraising movement enabling the cures of tomorrow through innovative, transformative cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. Since its inception in 2014, more than $51 million has been raised for VeloSano, advancing 240+ cancer research projects — including cancer care in Florida.

Thank you once again for your ongoing commitment to Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Together, we are making a significant difference in the lives of our patients and shaping the future of healthcare in our state.

Sincerely,

Conor P. Delaney, MD, PhD

Chrysanthemum Ball to Benefit Weissman Cancer Center

Chrysanthemum Ball to Benefit Weissman Cancer Center

Philanthropic leaders and loyal supporters are gearing up for the annual Chrysanthemum Ball in support of continued world-class care at Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Proceeds from this year’s Ball will benefit the Weissman Cancer Center at Martin Health, which is slated for expansion and renovation. Plans call for tripling the infusion suite capacity, increasing the number of infusion pharmacists, more than doubling the number of exam rooms and creating a dedicated space for a wig boutique. Plans also include accommodations for complementary support services that care for the emotional well-being of patients undergoing cancer treatment.

The Weissman Cancer was named when Robert “Bob” and Carol Weissman made a transformational gift in 2003. This year, Mr. Weissman made an additional $1 million matching gift to kickstart the campaign, providing an opportunity for donors to support the renovation of the Weissman Cancer Center.

The Chrysanthemum Ball is set for Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at the Hutchinson Resort and Spa in Jensen Beach, Florida. Longtime supporters Alison and Mark Palombi are the event chairs and more than 300 guests are expected to attend the gala.

“We are especially proud to be the chairs of this year’s ball dedicated to transforming our cancer center,” says Alison. “Our selfless, community-focused donors will dramatically expand our ability to help families fight this terrible disease with a state-of-the-art facility, that will increase capacity and the quality of care.”

Since its inception in 1995, the Chrysanthemum Ball has raised millions for critical hospital projects, advanced training and innovative equipment. Gifts made to the ball will save lives and transform the care Cleveland Clinic Martin Health provides well into the future.
