Patients are usually referred to an Orthopedic doctor after discussing their symptoms or conditions with their primary care provider or after a trip to the emergency department.

Sports & Ortho Injury Care
Avoid the Emergency Department if you or a family member experiences a muscle, bone or joint injury. Quick treatment from a primary care sports medicine specialist is now available without an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Sports & Ortho Injury Care clinic located at the Stow Health & Wellness Center. Walk in Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
Ages 7 and up can walk in for treatment for the following:
- Sports injuries (excluding concussions)
- Exercise-related injuries
- Simple fractures (broken bone without an open wound over the fracture location)
- Sprain or strain of the leg, hip, knee, foot or ankle
- Sudden joint, bone or muscle injuries
- Swollen or painful joints
- Recent back pain
- Other musculoskeletal injuries
- Work-related injuries
- Sports physicals
For your convenience, diagnostic x-rays and MRIs are available onsite.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, a severe headache, or other serious problems please go to the nearest emergency department or call 911.
