Adult Epilepsy: Effect of Treatment on Global Physical Health

Change in Global Physical Health in Adult Epilepsy Patients

2014 – 2022

Medical Patients (N = 3531)

6856 medically treated patients had at least two visits with PROMIS-10 Physical Health data available for analysis. Among those patients whose baseline PROMIS-10 Physical Health score ≤ 45 (N = 3531), 36.7% (N = 1296) showed improvement, 46.9% (N = 1657) remained stable, and 16.4% (N = 578) worsened. Median duration of follow-up was 1399 days (range, 180-2976 days).

Surgical Patients (N = 105)

211 surgical patients had a presurgery visit and postsurgery visit in 2022 with PROMIS-10 Physical Health data available for analysis. Among those patients whose baseline PROMIS-10 Physical Health score ≤ 45 (N = 105), 39% (N = 41) showed improvement, 44.8% (N = 47) remained stable, and 16.2% (N = 17) worsened. Median duration of follow-up was 955 days (range, 183-2165 days). Clinically meaningful change was defined as a 5-point change in T-score, based on one-half the standard deviation.¹
