The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine Fellowship Programs

The goals of the Palliative Medicine fellowship programs are excellence in palliative medicine education for interested physicians and to create leaders in the field. Extensive and in-depth clinical education through interdisciplinary faculty focuses on patients with life threatening or limiting advanced diseases.

Currently, the Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine offers two fellowship programs:

Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship

  • Fellows will gain hands on palliative care experience in palliative approaches to cancer, advanced lung, heart and kidney disease, neuromuscular diseases and other diseases appropriate to palliative care. Fellows will receive training in psycho-social care of patients and families and will learn to conduct family meetings.

 Research Fellowship in Palliative Medicine

  • Fellows will gain hands on experience in palliative medicine research, participating in active research, manuscript preparation, structured teaching, team meetings, Grand Rounds, Journal Club, didactic discussion and teaching of internal medicine trainees.
