Annual May Pops Event Supports Patient Care

Annual May Pops Event Supports Patient Care

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital supporters gathered with good friends for a good cause at the 34th annual May Pops Spring concert featuring the Brevard Symphony Orchestra. Nancy Milsten served as the guest conductor in honor of Dr. Dick Milsten.

The event, held at the Windsor Polo Field in Vero Beach, was attended by over 450 guests and raised $450,000 in support of Indian River Hospital's strategic priorities.

The evening began with a VIP reception and a welcome from comedian Dave Dugan, who served as the event’s emcee. After a 30-minute comedy set, Dugan introduced Roxanne Hall, Executive Director of the Indian River Foundation Board, and Judy LaFage, Chair of the Indian River Foundation Board, who thanked the event’s sponsors and supporters.

Presenting sponsors Tom and Claire Joyce dedicated a table to hospital caregivers and their spouses, and Chase and Wendy Carey dedicated their sponsorship to the outstanding work of the Emergency Department team.

“It gave us great joy to be a sponsor of the May Pops event this past Sunday, says Tom Joyce. “It was nothing short of spectacular. Hosting a group of our caregivers was our way of saying ‘thank you’ for all they do every day.”

May Pops was inspired by longtime supporters Dick and Helen Post, who had the idea of creating “an end-of-season celebration to support the hospital, with good friends, good music and good food for a good cause.” Since his passing in 2013, each year guests are invited to pay tribute to Mr. Post and his flair for signature neckwear by wearing a colorful bow tie to the event.

Proceeds from this year's May Pops concert will support initiatives that provide a seamless continuum of care, expand and enhance care locations, increase access and expand care capabilities, expand specialty care and ensure residents have access to primary care when and where it’s most needed.
