Express Care and Urgent Care Services

You catch a bug, spike a fever or get a cut that’s too deep for the bandages in your cabinet. Life happens — and when it does, we’re here to help.

Cleveland Clinic offers different levels of same-day care, so you get the right help, right when you need it. Express Care and Urgent Care are two options — but what’s the difference and how do you choose?

Express Care is for everyday illnesses and minor injuries, like pink eye, sinus infections, sore throats or that common cold that feels anything but common. Our team can test, treat and help you start feeling better, fast.

Urgent Care is a step up. Able to handle everything Express Care can cover, this is for slightly more serious issues, things like stitches, X-rays or an EKG when something doesn’t feel right. It’s also where you can bring kids 6 months and up. Think of it as the middle ground between Express Care and the emergency room — care for what can’t wait but doesn’t need an ambulance.

Why Choose Us for Express Care and Urgent Care Services?

Compassionate care:

When you or your loved ones aren’t feeling well, kindness is key. Our team gets that today isn’t a great day. They work to make things a little easier — whether that’s explaining what’s about to happen or helping you feel as comfortable as possible.

Convenient care:

Sometimes, talking to a provider from your couch is exactly what you need. Our virtual visits make it easy to connect with a primary care provider — without leaving home.

What Is Express Care?

Some days, you just don’t feel right — or your child’s tugging at their ears and you’re thinking: ear infection. Express Care is a walk-in option for those everyday issues, so you don’t need to worry about fitting an appointment into your already-full day. Just come in when you can.

You can check estimated wait times on our website — and even reserve your spot before you leave home.

What can I go to Express Care for?

Wondering where to go for what? Express Care is a great choice for common illnesses and minor issues that need attention. We can help with:

Need care for a child under 2?

Express Care is for patients ages 2 and up. For younger children, Urgent Care or the Emergency Department is a better fit.

What Is Urgent Care?

Urgent Care is the middle ground — more than Express Care, but not quite the Emergency Department (ED). It’s a good option when something needs attention within the next 24 hours but isn’t life-threatening.

Think of a deep cut: Maybe you were slicing vegetables. If the bleeding isn’t excessive, Urgent Care can handle the stitches — no need to wait in the ED.

It’s also a good place to go if you think you (or your daredevil kid) might’ve broken something. Urgent Care can take an X-ray and treat many simple fractures.

But the Emergency Department is still the right call for sudden, severe pain, heavy bleeding or any life-threatening injuries.

What can I go to Urgent Care for?

Urgent Care offers many of the same services, plus a few that need more advanced tools or testing. We can help with:

For anyone 6 months and up

Urgent Care is available for anyone 6 months and older. It’s walk-in, so you don’t need an appointment.

Our healthcare providers can see you at convenient locations throughout Northeast Ohio and Florida.

When Should I Go to the Emergency Department Instead?

Express Care and Urgent Care are great options for many things — but when it’s a true emergency, the Emergency Department (ED) is where you need to be. It’s open 24/7 and ready for life-threatening or serious issues.

Head to the ED for:

Not sure if it’s serious enough for the ED?

If you’re not sure whether it’s an emergency, don’t wait — call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.

A team approach to care

At Cleveland Clinic, care is a team effort. No matter where you start — Express Care, Urgent Care or the Emergency Department — you’ll get the same trusted, connected care.
