Blood Count

Complete Blood Count with Differential (CBC)

Series of blood tests that provides information about the components of blood including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. CBC test results can help diagnose diseases and determine their severity.

These tests may be measured any time of the day without fasting.


Normal range:

  • Male: 13.5 - 17.5 g/dL
  • Female: 12.0 - 16.0 g/dL


Percent of total blood volume that is made up of red cells.

Normal range:

  • Male: 40 - 55%
  • Female: 36 - 48%

Platelet count

Normal range adult: 150,000 - 400,000/mL

White blood cell (WBC) count

Normal range adult: 5,000-10,000/mL
