Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Services
Behavioral Health Services at Lutheran Hospital promote the wellness of our patients through medication management, education and activity therapy. Treatment is provided to adult patients ages 18 or older 24/7.
Our primary focus is helping our patients effectively manage their behavioral illnesses and return to a normal level of functioning without depending on structured inpatient care.

Older Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Services
Opened in 1981, Lutheran Hospital’s Older Adult Behavioral Health unit helps patients achieve healthier and more productive lives through prevention, evaluation and treatment of emotional and behavioral difficulties.
This innovative program focuses exclusively on the complex biopsychosocial problems confronting men and women over the age of 65.

Mood Disorders Program
Lutheran Hospital offers a unique program intended for adults with primary mood disorders such as major depression and bipolar disorder. The goal of the program is to provide patients with primary mood disorders—particularly those with higher levels of functioning—the highly specialized treatments they require in a setting conducive to their needs. Our interdisciplinary team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists and programming staff that are committed to improving and maintaining the metal health and well-being of patients in the community we serve.
Program includes:
- Group therapy.
- Treatment planning.
- Family meetings and support.
- Goal development.
- Discharge planning.
Inpatient Treatment
- Offers intensive initial assessments for more targeted treatment efforts.
- Typically lasts 5 - 7 days.
- Patients have access to the Mood Disorders Outpatient Program, a five-week group therapy program.
Outpatient Treatment
- Provides support to those seeking help for depression and bipolar disorder.
- Designed for adults who need additional support beyond weekly therapy sessions.
