Blood Count

Evaluates the normal ranges of blood cells. Helps to diagnose and monitor disorders of the blood and other organs and the effects of certain treatments.

Preparation

These tests may be measured any time of the day without fasting.

Hemoglobin

Normal range:

  • Male: 13.5 - 17.5 g/dL
  • Female: 12.0 - 16.0 g/Dl

Hematocrit

Normal range:

  • Male: 40 - 52 %
  • Female: 37 – 47%

Platelet count

Normal range adult: 150,000 - 400,000/mL

White blood cell (WBC) count

Normal range adult: 4 - 11 K/UL
