Overview
The members of the research group have an interest in stroke complications from surgery, procedures, and acute medical diseases. Research is being conducted in collaboration with specialists outside of neurology and neurosurgery. In collaboration with the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, stroke complications of left ventricular assist devices, the Impella intracardiac pump, and transcatheter aortic valve implantations are being investigated in order to understand predictors, timing, and acute treatment of stroke complications. In addition, neurologic complications that occur in infective endocarditis are being investigated from a neurologic perspective, with emphasis on imaging and infectious intracranial aneurysms.
