Cleveland Clinic Children’s heart failure/transplantation team assesses and treats children with heart failure. We provide advanced medical care, and when necessary, a mechanical circulatory support “artificial heart” to help the sickest children until their heart requires it or they are able to receive a transplant.
We provide assisted devices in single ventricles and are currently establishing and innovating new means of infant artificial hearts. We offer many ventricular devices such as:
- Berlin Heart
- HeartMate 3
Our team consists of transplant-trained cardiologists, nurse practitioners, transplant coordinator registered nurses, as well as additional caregivers from cardiothoracic surgery, infectious disease, nursing, immunology, psychology, pharmacology, nutrition, art therapy, social work and palliative medicine.
