Resident Leadership Opportunities

Residents are encouraged to participate in leadership roles depending on their career interests and trajectory. All PGY2 and PGY3 residents sit on hospital committees and residents are able to serve as members of the Cleveland Clinic GME House Staff Association in various roles for the enterprise. Fairview has PGY3 Chief Medical Residents and Officer roles as well as opportunities to serve as Class Representative. Many of our residents hold positions in professional medical societies in their field of interest. Residents can also serve on the curriculum committee and POCUS interest group as well.

Our residency program was founded in 1962 at Lutheran Hospital, and the first graduates received their diplomas in 1965. Many of our graduates have remained in the Cleveland area as internists and are now practicing at Fairview. Others have pursued fellowships and returned to Cleveland to set up their own practices. We are proud of our graduates who practice in various settings across the United States.
