Conference Objectives

After completing this educational activity, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Summarize and identify the pathophysiology of hemochromatosis.
  • Identify testing and laboratory findings.
  • Analyze the recommendations outlined by the CDC Immunization Schedule.
  • Evaluate the types of vaccines recommended by the CDC Immunization Schedule.
  • Describe the most updated evidence and indications for GLP-1 medications.
  • Discuss adverse effects of GLP-1 medications and strategies for optimal medication use.
  • Explain long-term use considerations including cost/access, muscle wasting and rebound weight gain.
  • Understand and identify treatment options for systemic thromboembolic risk reduction in the setting of atrial fibrillation.
  • Identify both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options to assist with the management of atrial fibrillation.
  • Understand the pathophysiology of crystal arthritis.
  • Describe the differences between gout and pseudogout.
  • Recognize red flag signs/symptoms of gout.
  • Gain confidence in initiating first-line treatment for gout.
  • Understand the pathophysiology of polymyalgia rheumatica.
  • Describe the link between PMR and giant cell arteritis.
  • Recognize red flag signs/symptoms of PMR/GCA.
  • Gain confidence in initiating first-line treatment for PMR.
  • Identify common symptoms of menopause.
  • Identify and discuss current treatment options for the management of menopause symptoms.
