Aorta Surgery
The Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute surgeons have vast experience at performing aorta surgery.
Ascending aorta, aortic arch, descending aorta, thoracoabdominal repairs, thoracic and abdominal aorta endovascular stent graft procedures are all performed by a multidisciplinary surgical team.
For abdominal aorta aneurysms, a minimally invasive endovascular approach is becoming the preferred method, decreasing morbidity and mortality in these patients when performed by a skilled team. For thoracic aorta aneurysm surgery, the endovascular approach is becoming more available to patients as an option for repair of the thoracic aorta.
Aneurysms that involve some or all of the visceral arteries represent the most challenging cases. Various etiologies, including degenerative aneurysms, chronic aortic dissections,and collagen vascular deficiency syndromes, are all commonly seen and treated by our Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute Aorta Center vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons.
