Gynecologic Services at Cleveland Clinic
We get to know you — and learn what’s your body’s “normal.” That way, if you have a new need. We’ll address it together. Or if we find something that needs extra attention, we can quickly and accurately do the necessary tests. And provide the latest treatment that prioritizes your health or fertility.
Routine gynecology
Regular gynecologic exams help you stay healthy. If you’re already on the other side of menopause, it’s still important to see a gynecologist for regular check-ups.
Our providers care for people of all ages at convenient office locations. We can help you with:
- Birth control (contraception).
- Breast exams and mammograms.
- Pap smear.
- Pelvic exams.
During your appointment, your specialist will check for signs of breast cancer and cancer of your reproductive organs. We’ll ask you about any symptoms you may be experiencing or concerns you may have. If you’re thinking about pregnancy, our healthcare providers offer preconception care to help get a pregnancy off to a healthy start.
Specialty gynecologic care
Have symptoms that make you worry? Or just a general feeling something isn’t right? Our gynecologists can help. We’re experts in identifying and treating gynecologic cancers and a wide range of other issues, including:
- Abnormal uterine bleeding and postmenopausal bleeding.
- Adenomyosis.
- Endometriosis.
- Infertility.
- Urinary incontinence.
- Uterine fibroids and uterine polyps.
- Uterine prolapse and vaginal prolapse.
We also treat sexually transmitted diseases and infections. Our Ob/Gyns talk with you about what you’re experiencing. No matter what’s going on, we work together to find the right treatment — and help you stress less about it.
Diagnosing gynecologic conditions
When we’re diagnosing gynecologic conditions, we use imaging to help us take a look at what’s going on first. Imaging tests we might recommend include:
- 3D ultrasound: We use 3D ultrasound to record sound waves at different angles and create images that show greater detail.
- Hystero-salpingo contrast sonography (HyCoSy): Your provider uses fluid and ultrasound to check for any blockage in your fallopian tubes.
- Hysterosalpingogram: We use X-rays to see if your fallopian tubes are open.
- Hysteroscopy: Providers use hysteroscopy to see inside your uterus and send detailed images to a monitor for review.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): This imaging test uses magnets and radio waves to see inside your pelvis and uterus.
- Saline infusion sonohysterography: We use saline and sound waves to look inside your uterus.
Providers Who Offer Ob/Gyn Services
Locations
We offer Ob/Gyn services at many locations throughout Northeast Ohio, Akron, and Florida.Obstetric Services at Cleveland Clinic
Having a baby can be exciting — and overwhelming. There’s so much that happens from the moment you find out your news until you’re actually holding your newborn in your arms. You’ll have questions. You’ll have worries. But our obstetrics specialists are with you every step of the way. We’ll give you the care, advice and reassurance to help you have a healthy pregnancy. We offer:
Routine obstetric care
Our team will care for you during pregnancy, childbirth and after delivery at a convenient location near you.
First time? We can help you plan for your first pregnancy with preconception counseling. Growing your family? We can help you with care between your pregnancies as you plan ahead.
Whether it’s our Ob/Gyns, advanced practice nurses or certified nurse midwives, we’re by your side throughout the entire journey. From your first prenatal care appointment throughout the following trimesters, we’re ready for your questions. We’ll help you understand what to expect during the coming months. You’ll come see us regularly for check-ups throughout your pregnancy so we can keep a close eye on your health the whole time.
You’ll have routine blood tests to check for anemia and other conditions that can cause complications. Our specialists will also monitor your pregnancy with prenatal ultrasounds.
You can count on our obstetrics team to provide excellent, personalized care throughout your pregnancy and birth. We will also be there for you after delivery — answering your questions and taking care of you as you adjust to life with the newest member of your family.
Not all of our locations offer both gynecologic and obstetric services. Please check with your provider to learn more about the obstetric services they offer.
Specialty obstetric care
Hearing that your pregnancy could be considered high risk might make you feel anxious. But don’t worry — our healthcare providers are experts in caring for those with a high-risk pregnancy. Our team includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists, genetic counselors and pediatric fetal surgeons. We also offer obstetric emergency care.
Your pregnancy might be considered high risk for several reasons. These include being over age 35, carrying more than one baby or if there are fetal abnormalities.
Conditions that can also increase your risk during pregnancy include:
- Cancer.
- Diabetes.
- Gastrointestinal conditions.
- HIV and other infections.
- Neurological conditions.
- Obesity.
- Organ transplant.
We use sophisticated treatments to address any conditions that you may develop during your pregnancy. For example, our fetal laser surgery program corrects twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (or what doctors call it when identical twins share a placenta and blood vessels). This treatment offers better outcomes than traditional amnio reduction treatment.
If there are any bumps in the road along the way, we’ll listen to your concerns and work with you to help you have the healthiest pregnancy and delivery possible. And if complications happen during your pregnancy or delivery, our team is there for you. That care extends to your newborn too. Our maternal-fetal specialists offer advanced care for newborns with complications in our Level III and Level IV neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).
Complex family planning
Our dedicated, compassionate team include fellowship-trained, board certified family planning subspecialists, Ob/Gyns, internal medicine physicians and advanced practice providers. These experts specialize in complex birth control (contraceptive) consultation, pregnancy termination, early pregnancy complications and miscarriage management. We also offer:
- Pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counseling.
- Evaluation of bleeding, pain, nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy.
- Evaluation and management of ectopic pregnancy.
- Follow up after miscarriage or abortion.
- Testing for sexually transmitted infections.
Our contraceptive services include:
- Routine and complex contraceptive device (IUDs, implants) insertions and removals.
- Female permanent contraception (sterilization).
- Contraception for medically complex patients.
- Emergency contraception.

Want To Get Menopause Care in Ohio or Michigan Without an Office Visit?
Do you have questions about hormonal changes during menopause — whether it’s perimenopause, menopause, or sexual and bone health?
If you’re in Ohio or Michigan, you can join us for any of our weekly group virtual menopause visits. They’re a convenient way to ask questions from a menopause specialist. You’ll learn not only from the doctor, but from the questions of others.
When: These secure Zoom sessions are every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. (EST). You can schedule only one 90-minute shared medical appointment, or a series of them. It’s up to you!
Who can join: New and current Cleveland Clinic patients. You’ll need a MyChart account, and to fill out a questionnaire a week before your session.
What to expect: You’ll hear from a menopause specialist what they wish everyone knew about menopause. And they’ll answer commonly asked questions. Then, you’ll be able to ask your own questions — or just listen!
What’s the cost? The cost is the same as a regular doctor’s visit. If you need any medications or labs, you’ll follow up with a menopause specialist of your choice for a 1:1 visit.
