We have a short episode for you today, as we know many of our listeners are preparing for next week's Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings in New Orleans. I'm very excited to be heading there, joined by my Cleveland Clinic colleagues across the country who are presenting on a wide range of topics. But today I wanted to specifically shout out some presentations and featured research from our staff, residents and fellows. Here's a preview if you're able to join us.

For the American Head and Neck Society, Dr. Jamie Ku will be leading a pre-meeting workshop on May 13 th for residents and fellows on head and neck microvascular reconstruction.

Dr. Patrick Byrne, our chairman and President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, will be directing a Neurorrhaphy workshop to kick off their meeting on May 15 th .

On May 17 th , Dr. Christopher Roxbury will be a panelist for the American Rhinologic Society discussion on variations in perioperative care and endoscopic sinus and skull-based surgery. Also for ARS, our resident Mark Liu will be presenting a poster on middle turbinate medialization with absorbable packing after transsphenoidal skull-based surgery.

Dr. Mark Bassim is involved in meetings for both the American Neurotology Society, moderating a session on new insights into hearing loss on May 17 th , as well as for the American Otologic Society, where he'll be joined by Dr. Samantha Anne and Dr. Edward Doyle, as well as our residents, Lacey Cantrell and David Octeau, discussing their analysis of speech discrimination outcomes in patients with perimodiolar vs lateral wall cochlear implant arrays. You can check that presentation out on May 18th.

I also wanted to shout out my colleague Dr. Will Tierney from our Section of Laryngology who will be moderating a session for the American Laryngological Association on May 17 th on idiopathic subglottic stenosis, and then he'll be presenting some original research later in the day for a session on larger endotracheal tube sizes being associated with an increased risk of post-extubation dietary modifications. This is a project that was multidisciplinary in nature, and features some of our colleagues in speech-language pathology and in the medical intensive care unit here at Cleveland Clinic.
