EMS–Hospital Feedback

EMS–Hospital Feedback

Ongoing communication with our EMS partners is an important part of how we evaluate and improve emergency care delivery. Since 2023, we have used a simple, mobile friendly feedback process that allows EMS providers and Emergency Department caregivers to easily share input with one another following patient encounters.

This approach supports open dialogue, reinforces effective practices, and helps identify opportunities for improvement across the prehospital and hospital care continuum.

EMS Feedback Survey

This quick and easy survey helps us continue to strengthen communication and collaboration with our EMS partners.

How feedback is shared

Feedback is collected using Quick Response (QR) Codes made readily available to both EMS and Emergency Department staff.

  • QR codes are scanned using a mobile device
  • Users are directed to a brief electronic survey
  • Surveys are designed to be quick, convenient, and mindful of clinical workflow

To ensure privacy and compliance, no patient identifiers or HIPAA protected information are included or collected.

Shared perspective and collaboration

This feedback process allows communication to flow in both directions:

  • Emergency Department staff can share feedback related to EMS communication, patient reports, and handoff quality
  • EMS providers are able to offer feedback regarding ED interactions, patient transfer, and coordination of care

By encouraging respectful, timely input from both sides, this process helps strengthen working relationships and promotes mutual understanding.

Purpose and value

Collecting feedback from our EMS partners helps us:

  • Improve communication during patient handoff
  • Recognize effective care and strong teamwork
  • Identify trends or opportunities for education and system improvement
  • Support quality improvement without adding administrative burden

EMS provider feedback welcome

EMS providers are encouraged to share their feedback at any time by scanning the QR codes located near the EMS areas of our Emergency Departments. This quick and easy process allows timely input following patient encounters and helps us continue to strengthen communication and collaboration with our EMS partners.

Above all, this ongoing feedback supports our shared goal of delivering safe, efficient, and high quality emergency care for every patient.
