Graduate Placement
Graduate Nursing Student Placement Request
The Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence is committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for nurses seeking an advanced degree. To accommodate the growing volume of placement requests, while continuing to provide a positive experience for graduate nursing students and preceptors, Cleveland Clinic has created a central application process.
Students interested in completing a rotation need to complete the Graduate Nursing Preceptor Placement Application.
Students and/or Academic Institution Representatives should not directly call or email individual Cleveland Clinic sites or caregivers to inquire about a placement.
There will be three cycles of the application process. Exceptions to the application periods cannot be made.
Clinical Rotation | Application Period |
Winter/Spring (January 1 - May 14) | July 1 - September 30 (notification by October 31) |
Summer (May 15 - August 15) | December 1 - February 28 (notification by March 31) |
Fall (August 16-December 31) | March 1 - May 31 (notification by June 30) |
The Graduate Nursing Preceptor Request Process is to be utilized by students who are:
- In good academic standing.
- Have received placement approval from their academic institutions.
- Have an active Ohio Registered Nursing License.
- In a program in which a current affiliation agreement exists between Cleveland Clinic and the academic institution.
- Receiving academic credit for their rotation, in which participation is a course requirement.
Placement of students at Cleveland Clinic is highly competitive, and completion of the preceptor application does not guarantee placement. Applications will be reviewed by leadership for selection. If/when a preceptor match is found, the Office of Advanced Practice Nursing will contact the student to inform of acceptance and initiate the onboarding process. Once the notification deadline date, identified above, has passed and you were not contacted to initiate onboarding then unfortunately a placement could not be found.
If you have questions regarding this process, please contact the Office of Advanced Practice Nursing via email at graduatenursingstudents@ccf.org.
