Overview

LifeStyles classes are scientifically-backed, led by qualified instructors and showcase chart-topping music and the latest cutting-edge choreography.

Group exercise classes are open to all members, offered at a variety of times and suitable for all fitness levels. There is no charge for classes listed on the group exercise schedules. Approximately 75 classes are offered weekly and subject to change based on interest and class size.

Frequently Asked Questions About Group Classes

How long are the group classes at LifeStyles?

Most classes are 45-55 minutes in duration unless otherwise noted. For your health and safety, it is important to perform the warm-up at the beginning of each class; therefore, no one will be admitted into class after the first ten minutes. Some class formats are unique to one center.

Do I have to register in advance?

Advance sign-in is not necessary with the exception of specialty (pre-registration required) classes and certain equipment-based classes.

What shoes should I wear?

Most classes require proper athletic footwear. Ask a staff member for details.

Can my child participate?

Children ages 13 to 17 years old may attend group exercise classes under the following conditions:

Muscular Strength and Endurance

Barre

A barefoot class that focuses on strength, coordination, and balance using the elements of dance and yoga.

Core Focus

This 30-minute class includes strengthening the abs, back, glutes and more to enhance core strength.

Hybrid class that focuses on strength, coordination and balance using the elements of dance, basic strength and dynamic flexibility.

A Shallow water workout that is easy to follow and easy on the joints.

Aqua Zumba ® / Aqua Dance

The Zumba pool party combining Zumba and an aqua class for an invigorating workout.

Warm H2O - Recommended for Arthritic Populations

Conducted in warm water to reduce arthritis pain providing gentle resistance to build strength and support joints. Great for senior adults.

H2O Bootcamp

45-60 minutes of high intensity interval training in the pool.

In the Deep

A deep water workout emphasizing cardio fitness, core strength and flexibility. Aqua belts and pool noodles are provided.

Cycling

Advanced Cycle

Sport performance training geared towards cyclists and triathletes who want to maintain their fitness during the off season. *Advanced registration required.

Cycle to the Core

50 minutes of Cycle followed by core conditioning and stretch.

  • Intensity: Moderate to High

Cycle In / Yoga Out

40 minutes of cycling followed by yoga stretches to improve flexibility. Great for beginner cycling participants.

Cycle 45 / 60

An intense 45 / 60 minutes of cycling including intervals and an aerobic threshold training. *Advanced registration required for the Wednesday 6 a.m. and Saturday 9:45 a.m. classes.

Mind / Body (Barefoot on a Yoga Mat)

Flow Fusion

Uses flowing yoga movements and body weight exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and balance.

Prana Yoga

A dynamic form of hatha yoga. A mixed level yoga practice dedicated to breath and energy movement. This vigorous practice purifies and realigns the body.

  • Intensity: Low to Moderate

Gentle Yoga

Learn proper breathing techniques and gentle flows to increase flexibility and strength, cultivate balance and reduce stress. This class will leave you centered.

Moving Meditation

An early morning class that starts with stillness and breathing. Slow and flowing movement then begins to stretch, strengthen and align all joints and muscles. This flowing movement induces a meditative connection of mind, body and spirit...leaving one open, fresh and restored. Floor based activities performed on yoga mat.

  • Intensity: Low

Pilates Mat

Strengthen and stretch muscles uniformly in a series of Pilates floor exercises. Develop stability, strength, flexibility and balance by using precision and concentrated effort. Performed on yoga mat. Some may use small equipment.

  • Intensity: Low to Moderate

A parent or guardian must be participating in the class with children ages 13 to 15. Class start time is within LifeStyles dependent hours. For example:

Aqua - Water Aerobics

AquaRx

The aqua workout that provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill and fitness levels. Jump in and make a splash with this dynamic cardiovascular workout that tones and tapers the entire body. Additional equipment, such as water noodles and hand buoys may be incorporated into this great workout.

  • Intensity: Low to Moderate

Aqua Zumba ®

Known as the Zumba “pool party,” Aqua Zumba® gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting, and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba® class. Integrating the Zumba® formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba® blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body toning, and exhilarating beyond belief.

  • Intensity: Low to Moderate

Total Body Intervals (Water)

One of the best ways to burn calories and increase energy! Total Body Intervals will push you to be your best. Brief bursts of high-intensity work (45 seconds) followed by short recovery periods (15 seconds) boost metabolism and burn more calories. Buoyancy from water allows you to move with ease which allows you to work at a higher intensity with less impact on the body.

  • Intensity: Low, Moderate or High - intensity is up to you!

Healing Waters

Experience deep inner warmth, pain relief, relaxation, stress relief, improved range-of-motion, gentle movement and more! This class is especially beneficial for those with any type of physical limitation and those recovering from joint replacement surgery.

Cardiovascular Endurance

Cycle

The indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Take on the terrain with your inspiring team coach who leads the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training. Discover your athlete within- sweat and burn to reach your endorphin high.

  • Intensity: Moderate to High

TreadRx

The indoor treadmill workout held on the fitness floor where you walk or run as motivating music directs the pace. Led by a knowledgeable running/walking coach, travel vicariously over hill and dale using techniques like intervals, Fartleks and tempo variations. TreadRx is a very popular class; please arrive 15 minutes early. Treadmills cannot be reserved. Offered seasonally.

Zumba Fitness ®

There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating. Featuring exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats, Zumba® is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star- even if you’re dance challenged. Each Zumba class is vibrant, unique, and varied- and like many of Lifestyles programs, a new Zumba® release is produced every 2 months with new music and choreography.

Mind / Body

YogaRx

Builds flexibility and strength leaving you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. This format is a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga.

Stretch

Arthritis Foundation

Conducted in the warm water to reduce arthritis pain while providing gentle resistance to build strength and support joints. The ability to swim is not required.

Barre Above

Cardiovascular Endurance

LifeFit

A 60-minute class designed for ages 65+ that works on balance, cardio, strength, and flexibility. Class is performed with a chair. Blood pressure/oxygen levels are recorded before class.

Cycle

Geared to all fitness levels on specially designed indoor cycles. Class may include interval, strength, endurance and race day training.

  • Intensity: Low to High
  • Duration: 45 minutes

Cycle Strength

Alternate your time between cycling in Studio 1 and strength/endurance work for a high fat burning intervals workout.

Cardio Crush

Consists of all cardio intervals using multiple cardio machines on the fitness floor and bodyweight only exercises. Improve your endurance and heart health and watch the time fly by!

A Pilates workout helps develop the core muscles of your body. It helps build strength, flexibility, coordination, stability and good posture. Individual, partner and small group Pilates reformer training sessions are available for an additional fee.

Dance Lessons

Ballroom / Line Dance Lesson

Dancing is one of the best ways to exercise and is enjoyable to all! In these classes, we will cover the basic steps that will have you out on the floor and the envy of others. Learn steps of the Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Swing, or some classic line dances. Then put them to use at the next wedding, party, or social gathering! Sessions are 6 weeks and pre-registration is required.
