Visiting Resident Application Process

Residents interested in completing an Obstetrics and Gynecology subspecialty rotation at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio must submit applications by April 1 to be considered for the upcoming academic year and to improve the likelihood of securing preferred rotation dates. Applications submitted after this date will be accepted, but availability may be limited.

All rotations must begin on a Monday, unless that Monday falls on a holiday, and end on a Friday. While we may not be able to accommodate every request, our Obstetrics and Gynecology Education team will provide final rotation dates if your rotation is accepted.

Once a rotation is accepted, our Graduate Medical Education office will contact the resident 10–12 weeks before the rotation to begin onboarding and complete any required agreements. If the resident’s institution requires additional time to finalize agreements, the resident is responsible for contacting the OBGYN Education team to initiate the request. All agreements must be finalized at least one week before the rotation start date, or the rotation may be subject to cancellation.

Subspecialties offering visiting resident rotations

• Complex Benign Gynecology – four-week rotation
• The Complex Benign Gynecology team accepts up to five visiting residents between the second week of August and the end of December.
• Residents are responsible for transportation to Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, South Pointe Hospital, and Fairview Hospital.

• Gynecology Oncology – four-week rotation
• Explore more details.
• Residents are responsible for transportation to Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Fairview Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital.

• Maternal-Fetal Medicine– four-week rotation
• Please submit your preferred dates, and we will do our best to accommodate them. Visiting residents are not accepted the month of the annual SMFM conference.
• Residents are responsible for transportation to multiple Cleveland Clinic sites during the rotation.

• Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility – four-week rotation
• Residents will primarily be at Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center.

• Specialized Women’s Health – two-week rotation
• This rotation is available to Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents who are interested in learning about midlife women’s health in an outpatient setting.
• The two-week rotation will take place at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and at Independence Family Health Center.

• Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery  – four-week rotation
• Residents are responsible for transportation to Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Fairview Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital.
