Welcome to Cleveland Clinic’s GME program, one of the largest in the country. We annually train on average 1,600 clinical residents and fellows in our nearly 200 programs and another 400 research fellows enterprisewide (Cleveland Clinic Florida, Akron and Nevada, and South Pointe and Fairview hospitals).
We invite you to discover the many reasons why Cleveland Clinic offers an ideal teaching and learning environment. Our extraordinary clinical volume, broad mix of case complexity and dedicated teaching faculty are only the beginning. Living in Northeast Ohio is not only affordable, but also provides an excellent quality of life. We are dedicated to training the caregiver of the future to better serve our community and the world.

“Training at Cleveland Clinic has been an incredible experience. Program leaders are super supportive and genuinely invested in the wellness and success of their residents. I’m comfortable expressing any concerns and always feel that leadership is here to advocate for me.”
“Cleveland is great! I love that it offers Lake Erie, the Cleveland Metroparks, three major sports teams, amazing people (mostly my co-residents!) and the best ice cream ever. Cleveland is a food city. Everything here is easily accessible; there is little traffic, and you can get almost anywhere in 20 minutes no matter where you live. I was nervous about moving to Cleveland from a larger city, but it has far exceeded my expectations.”
“Patients arrive at Cleveland Clinic from all over the country and world, providing a diverse patient population and a wide array of clinical cases. For a surgical trainee, this provides a well-rounded training experience where you can gain experience in even the most rare and innovative surgical techniques.”
“One of the most valuable aspects about training at Cleveland Clinic is learning from my co-residents, who are always supportive and willing to help if needed. I look forward to continuing to growth with them and train at Cleveland Clinic over the next few years.”
“Cleveland is such a cool city! Living downtown means you’re a short walk away from Broadway-level shows at Playhouse Square, Iron Chef-run restaurants and major sporting events. It’s truly become my favorite city to live in!”
“I work in a supportive and welcoming academic environment every day. The staff, fellows and my co-residents consider my interest in critical care when I'm on rotations, tailoring their educational points, offering opportunities to perform procedures and providing research opportunities. Everyone I have encountered is invested in the health and professional growth of one another.”
“My fellowship experience at Cleveland Clinic has been amazing. The complexity of cases and the resources we have here make for a rich learning environment.”
“Because Cleveland Clinic is a large academic referral center, trainees get exceptional hands-on training, managing complex cases. We receive both routine and complex referrals from all over the state, region, country and world.”
“One of the absolute best things about Cleveland Clinic is how diverse the residents are. The people here come from all over the world, from all walks of life, and I guarantee that you will be able to find your people here.”
