Conference Objectives

This course is to help prepare RNs for the Certified Pediatric Nurse Exam.

Upon completion of the three review courses the nurse will be able to:

  • Discuss the holistic approach to assessment and care of a pediatric patient.
  • Describe the 5 different stages of growth and development of the pediatric patient.
  • Recall specific infectious diseases of the pediatric patient.
  • Recall musculoskeletal and neuromuscular dysfunctions in the pediatric patient.
  • Recall endocrine dysfunctions specific to pediatric patients.
  • List common psychosocial problems seen in the pediatric patient population.
  • Recall cardiac dysfunctions specific to pediatric patients.
  • Recall hematological disorders presenting in the pediatric patient.
  • Identify types of cancer in the pediatric patient.
  • Identify specific immune system disorders.
  • Recall specific infectious diseases of the pediatric patient.
  • Identify fluid and electrolyte norms and common pediatric illnesses.
  • Recall common respiratory illnesses in the pediatric patient.
  • Identify specific pediatric genitourinary dysfunction common to children.
  • List common causes of gastrointestinal dysfunction in the pediatric patient.
  • Recall specific neurological & cognitive dysfunction in the pediatric patient.
