In June, 2003, the American Nurses Credentialing Committee (ANC)—an arm of the American Nurses Association and the nation's largest nursing accrediting and credentialing organization—awarded Magnet status to the Cleveland Clinic nursing staff.
To become a Magnet hospital, nursing services must pass a rigorous review administered by the ANCC. A hospital must successfully meet or exceed expectations in 14 categories of care and performance criteria. Cleveland Clinic is the only hospital in the greater Cleveland area and the second hospital in Ohio to be recognized. Just one percent of the nation's more than 6,000 hospitals have earned the distinction of ANCC Magnet status.
Cleveland Clinic also has been named one of the nation’s best hospitals in the HCIA-Sachs annual Top 100 Hospitals study of medical and operational excellence.

The Cleveland Clinic Health System (CCHS) combines the area’s best community hospitals with the world-class care of The Cleveland Clinic. Comprising 8 community hospitals and affiliate hospitals, CCHS is the only health system in Northeast Ohio accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the nation’s largest accreditor of health care organizations.
All of our hospitals, outpatient clinics and home health care programs are also accredited by the JCAHO under its hospital accreditation program.
