About Wael Jaber, MD

Wael Jaber, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging, Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, at the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. Dr. Jaber specializes in cardiac imaging (both nuclear cardiology and echocardiograpy) and valvular heart disease. He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

A native of Lebanon, Dr. Jaber attended college at the American University in Beirut, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He then went on at the American University to receive his medical degree while making the Dean's honor list. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he also completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and nuclear cardiology.

Cleveland Clinic offered Dr. Jaber an advanced fellowship in cardiac imaging at the Cleveland Clinic, which he accepted. Dr. Jaber also has advanced training in interpretation of carotid ultrasound, clinical cardiovascular investigations and advanced echocardiography.

He was appointed to the Cleveland Clinic as a staff cardiologist in 2000. He currently heads the center for advanced ischemic heart disease. The center specializes in patients who have coronary artery disease and have been told that they have no local options for treatment.

Dr. Jaber is currently is the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Core Laboratory in C5Research. In this capacity, he focuses on leading a team that provides accurate interpretation for echocardiograms, nuclear stress perfusion images and CT and MRI cardiac scans in the setting of clinical trials.

His clinical and research studies have focused on improving outcomes in acute myocardial infarction, especially patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome and heart failure. He is currently working on multiple clinical investigations in an attempt to integrate multiple cardiac imaging modalities to improve their diagnostic accuracy. He has presented his clinical and research findings at various national and international scientific meetings.

Dr. Jaber has authored articles in leading professional and scientific publications including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, Archives of Internal Medicine, American Heart Journal, International Journal of Cardiac Imaging and the American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Jaber has been an invited speaker at the annual meetings of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and European Society of Cardiology to name few.

He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the American Heart Association. He was also listed as an Honored Member in America?s Registry of Outstanding Professionals, 2002-2007.

Dr. Jaber gave my wife and I all the time we needed to understand our ailments and outlined all the tests he needed and In the next 2 days followed up In further meetings to explain the results of the various test results and gave us solutions with follow up future appointments to monitor the conditions. Dr. Jaber is not only an excellent cardiologist, but a good, caring person about his patients. He literally saved my life by insisting I have my surgery earlier than I wanted to have it done. And, the surgeon found an aorta aneurysm ready to burst within a day or two. YES, I would (and do) recommend him !

Dr. Jaber is an outstanding, warm, friendly, funny, brilliant, knowledgeable cardiologist, particularly tuned to the "weirdo" state of my rarest of cardiac anomalies! He cares deeply for my heart care and for my total wellness as a whole person! It's a LONG drive from Cincinnati to Cleveland to have him as my cardiologist (and Dr. T.
