Hematology & Oncology Overview

Overview

Your child’s cancer journey can be difficult, from diagnosis to treatment to recovery. That’s why our team of highly trained hematology and oncology specialists streamlines your child’s care. We also take part in clinical trials and internationally recognized research. This gives your child access to the latest advances in treatment and support programs — and their best chance for their best life. And that makes navigating the many challenges of childhood cancer or hematologic disease a bit easier.

Why Choose Cleveland Clinic Children's?

  • Support for patients and families: Your child — and your whole family — may be feeling the stress, anxiety and fear that comes with a pediatric disease diagnosis. That’s why we offer multiple programs and services for your family’s emotional, spiritual, educational and other needs.
  • Lifetime of care: Your child’s care doesn’t end after treatment. Our team provides long-term follow-up services for children and adults who’ve had a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
  • Expertise with rare cancers: Cleveland Clinic Children’s provides exceptional care for children with rare and complex cancers. This includes access to the latest therapies and clinical trials.
  • Clinical trials: Our program offers access to nearly 100 active pediatric hematology/oncology clinical trials. These trials are in collaboration with the Children’s Oncology Group, pharmaceutical sponsors or initiated by our own researchers.
  • Care for children of all ages: We treat young children, adolescents and young adults with cancer. Cleveland Clinic Children’s Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program provides care for patients ages 15-39.
  • Team approach: Children with cancer or hematologic diseases need more than a treatment plan. They need expertise in many different areas. That’s the kind of team approach we take in caring for your child.
  • Recognized expertise: We have earned the Commission on Cancer for Pediatric Specialty by the American College for Surgeons. This recognizes our quality of care and services for children with cancer. Cleveland Clinic Children’s is currently the only program in the country to hold this accreditation.
  • Connected with one of the nation’s top-ranked cancer programs: Our team works closely with the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center, which is nationally ranked for its expertise and cancer care.
