In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person groups are currently postponed. Cleveland Clinic Bereavement Support Groups

Our focus is caring for you through compassionate listening, quality grief and bereavement education, and the offering of group services which support healing of mind, body, and spirit. These are all offered at no cost.

Groups will be available online during the COVID-19 public health emergency. To sign up for any group, please call 216.444.9819.

Main Campus Monthly Group
This is perhaps the most openended of all our offerings. There is no set agenda. There is no limit to how few or how many meetings you may attend. This group is good even if you aren’t ready to talk but just need the company of people who understand grief. The group is led by Rev. Amy Greene, Director of Spiritual Care for the Cleveland Clinic system. We ask you to sign up in advance if possible.

Topics are dependent upon attendees’ needs at the time.

Young Spouse Loss Monthly Group
This drop-in group meets each month to discuss healthy ways of coping. Topics include juggling parenthood/grieving children while grieving yourself, feeling it wasn’t “their time” yet, and sorting out feelings of shock, anger, and fear. Participants can find hope and healing in connecting with others who can relate to your grief experience.

Moving Forward Monthly Groups
This drop-in group addresses a different topic in grief each month and invites participants to explore and share the connections to their own grief journey.

Bereavement Groups/Events

This 6 week group is for people whose grief has been effected by COVID-19. Group members will explore their unique challenges and share how they’ve persevered through the pandemic.

This 6 week group focuses on rebuilding life after the death of a loved one. Group members will begin to normalize the grief experience through camaraderie with each other, the sharing of stories, and supporting one another.

This 8 week group is for adults who are working through the death of one or both parents. Join us as we explore the lives of our parents, how we have changed since their passing, and the legacy they left.

This 8 week group explores the unique place that our brothers and sisters have in our lives and the challenges presented after one passes away. Come and share how each of us is shaped and changed by the life and death of our siblings.

This 8 week series is for adults who wish to connect with others who are experiencing the loss of a spouse. Attendees can expect a caring and confidential environment and learn healthy and effective coping skills while meeting others.

This 6 week series brings together parents who are grieving the loss of a child. No matter how old or young, the death of a child is a life changing experience and this group will focus on overcoming challenges and finding hope in the process of grief.

Time: 4 – 5:30 p.m.

This 8 week group is for those who wish to learn what they might experience during the grieving process. Group members can share their stories and receive tools for handling grief responses.

A free camp for children ages 6 – 12. Creative child-friendly activities are used to assist children in expressing their grief after the death of a significant loved one. Children learn to manage and understand their significant loss through creative play.
