Acupuncture

Acupuncture, an alternative medical modality that dates back to 3000 B.C. China, has been shown to be effective in treating sports and performance injuries, many types of pain, headaches, stress and other chronic conditions. The Center for Integrative Medicine offers acupuncture at main and Lyndhurst campuses, Strongsville, Broadview Heights and Beachwood Family Health Centers.

Allergy / Immunology

Allergy specialists offer comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for both adults and children. Although the most effective treatment for allergies is eliminating or decreasing exposure to the allergen, medications, such as long-acting antihistamines, may be helpful. In some cases, allergy shots or allergen vaccines may be necessary to bring symptoms under control.

Audiology

An audiologist is available on-site to assess and treat hearing problems due to chronic ear infections, ruptured eardrums, trauma to the eardrum, inherited conditions or diseases of the inner ear.

Breast Center

Patients who suspect or have been diagnosed with breast cancer should consider meeting with our breast care specialists. For suspected problems, we offer biopsies and ductal lavage, a new procedure designed for women with a high-risk of breast cancer. High-risk patients also can participate in the world’s largest breast cancer prevention trial, called STAR. In conjunction with Cleveland Clinic’s Cancer Care centers, patients have access to leading-edge medical therapies, as well as clinical trials. Our plastic surgery and breast center staff work together to offer breast reconstruction following cancer surgery. Cleveland Clinic has also achieved a Three Year Full Accreditation from the American College of Surgeons' National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). 

Cardiology

Our cardiologists diagnose and treat heart diseases, such as coronary artery disease, valvular disease and rhythm disorders. Complex cases are referred to Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute, which is nationally ranked and recognized as the global leader in cardiovascular care.

Clinical Pharmacy

Patients can be referred by their physician to the clinical pharmacist for management of diabetes and high blood pressure or for medication reviews.

Colorectal Surgery

If detected early, colorectal cancer can be successfully treated. Specialists offer endoscopic procedures to diagnose colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, familial colon diseases and non-malignant colorectal conditions. Routine colonoscopies can help in the early detection of both colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer.

Dermatology

Our dermatologists manage a variety of skin, hair and nail diseases, including dermatitis caused by a wide range of allergens; fungal infections; and the damaging effects of prolonged exposure to the sun.

Diabetes Education

All persons with diabetes benefit from diabetes education as they learn self-management skills to control their diabetes and optimize their ability to live a productive and satisfying life. Registered dietitians, who are also certified diabetes educators, are available for one-on-one teaching of meal planning, diet modification and weight control. The program offers four easy-to-follow classes spanning over a three-month period. Here patients learn self-management skills to control their diabetes and optimize their ability to live healthy, productive lives.

Endocrinology

The endocrine system is a major control system of the body, regulating temperature, metabolism and other processes. Specialists at Cleveland Clinic provide care to people with endocrine disorders such as diabetes mellitus; obesity; osteoporosis and related problems of androgen excess (such as acne and menstrual irregularity); hypoglycemia; and glandular dysfunction of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, ovaries and testes.

Family Medicine

Family physicians specialize in the primary care of all members the family. This includes the care of newborns, infants and toddlers, school age children, adolescents, adult patients, and elderly patients. The goal of family physicians is to provide preventive and primary care across the spectrum of common complaints and concerns that patients encounter.

Food Allergy Center 

The Food Allergy Center of Excellence is dedicated to helping diagnose, manage and possibly treat the food allergy of our pediatric and adult patients in a caring environment.

Gastroenterology

A variety of upper endoscopic diagnostic procedures are offered in order to identify the causes of abdominal or chest pain, nausea and vomiting, heartburn, bleeding and swallowing disorders. More accurate than X-rays, endoscopy can also help identify inflammation, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers and tumors. Lower endoscopy is used to evaluate stomach pain and intestinal bleeding, as well as to detect polyps in the colon that may lead to colon cancer.

General Surgery

Our board-certified general surgeons provide evaluation and treatment, including minimally invasive surgery, for a broad range of medical problems, such as hernia repair and gall bladder removal.

Infertility

Cleveland Clinic offers a complete range of fertility specialty services for both men and women on the main hospital campus and at a number of our family health centers. In addition to traditional therapies, our fertility experts offer a leading-edge assisted reproductive technologies including in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection, sperm aspiration, assisted hatching, blastocyte transfer, embryo cryopreservation, donor eggs and sperm, and IVF surrogate. A board-certified mental health specialist offers counseling related to issues surrounding infertility at the Beachwood Family Health Center.

Internal Medicine

Our internal medicine staff provides comprehensive services for adults, such as diagnosing and treating health problems that require prompt attention, conducting general physical examinations and performing screenings, which may detect health problems early.

Medical Oncology / Hematology

Oncologists diagnose and treat both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. Specialists offer a full range of treatment options, including chemotherapy, and coordination of care with other specialists, such as radiation oncologists or others involved in cancer management, if necessary.

Midwifery

Midwives are educated and licensed professionals, who provide comprehensive care through pregnancy, labor, delivery and after, as well as offer routine gynecologic care for women of all ages. All Cleveland Clinic midwives are licensed by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing and certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Nephrology

Cleveland Clinic's Department of Nephrology and Hypertension provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with renal disease and hypertension. The department participates in an active renal transplant program, all modalities of dialysis care, and clinical research studies of diabetic and other glomerular disease. In addition to unique diagnostic capabilities, the department offers specialty clinics in renal stone disease, renal transplantation, chronic renal diseases and hypertension.

Neurology

Providing the most technologically advanced, compassionate medical care to patients with neurological diseases is the primary mission of Cleveland Clinic's Department of Neurology. The Department of Neurology is subdivided into the following sections, each one covering a specific area of neurological subspecialization:

Nutrition Services

Registered, licensed dietitians assess patients’ nutritional needs and help them achieve nutritional goals. Often patients are referred for counseling when a medical condition warrants a change in nutrition and/or diet. Medical conditions may include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes management, heart disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal disorders, pregnancy, premenstrual syndrome and weight problems.

Obstetrics / Gynecology

Obstetricians and gynecologists offer specialized care for women, including comprehensive prenatal care, preventive health screenings and general gynecology. If necessary, the expertise of other gynecologic specialists is available in areas such as infertility, high-risk obstetrics and gynecologic cancer. A board-certified mental health specialist offers counseling related to women’s issues or issues surrounding infertility at the Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center.

Ophthalmology

Our ophthalmology staff diagnoses and treats all types of eye disorders, including cataracts, glaucoma and problems associated with chronic conditions such as diabetes. Patients also can access routine eye care. A pediatric ophthalmologist is on staff to address the unique needs of young patients. We also provide optometry and contact lens service.

Optometry

Lakeland Eye Surgeons’ optometry services are offered at their Oberlin and Avon Lake offices. Here children and adults can have routine eye care, complete vision testing and refractive services (to determine the amount of vision correction you need). Complete contact lens services and a large optical dispensary offers many frames. Should any serious problems be detected during your exam, optometrists can refer you quickly to Lakeland Eye ophthalmologists. Lorain and Elyria offices also offer vision testing and refractive services.

Orthopaedics

General and pediatric orthopaedic care, sports medicine and spine care are offered. Patients with orthopaedic problems related to the hands and upper extremities, or feet, ankles and knees can access specialty care from our staff. Arthroscopic knee, hand and foot surgeries are performed in the state-of-the-art outpatient surgery centers in Beachwood, Lorain and Strongsville, or at Cleveland Clinic’s main hospital campus.

Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat)

Our otolaryngology staff provides expert care of snoring and other sleep problems, sinus conditions, ear infections, throat problems, hearing disorders and many other conditions of the ear, nose and throat.

Pain Management

Pain management specialists treat episodic pain caused by an illness or injury, as well as long-term chronic pain, which may or may not have an easily identifiable cause. Typically, specialists see patients with back or neck pain, chronic abdominal/pelvic pain, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, intractable spasticity, muscle and joint pain, cancer pain, disorders of the nervous system (shingles, trigeminal neuralgia) or pain associated with AIDS.

Pediatrics

We understand the special needs of young patients. Our pediatricians offer complete care for newborns, infants, children and adolescents. We encourage the healthy growth and development of children by emphasizing the importance of healthy lifestyles and educating parents and children on safety and accident prevention.

We are available for problems that require prompt attention, such as fever, earaches and injuries, as well as preventive checkups, school physicals and immunizations. If necessary, we team up with Cleveland Clinic pediatric specialists from Cleveland Clinic Children’s.

Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy

Physical and occupational therapists provide specific rehabilitation programs for patients recovering from illness, injury or surgery.

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Our plastic surgeons offer the latest techniques in cosmetic surgery such as body contouring using liposuction, dermabrasion, breast augmentation or reduction, and reconstructive surgery following injury or cancer surgery, for example.

Podiatry

For adult patients with foot and ankle problems, podiatric specialists provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Most often, problems can be treated using non-surgical methods. When necessary, however, surgery is performed by physicians specializing in foot and ankle procedures. And most surgeries can be performed in our convenient outpatient surgery centers, making it possible for most patients to go home on the same day of surgery.

Psychology

Psychologists provide individual, group or family counseling for a variety of common problems. If appropriate, they refer patients to other specialists and community resources.

Pulmonology

Pulmonology specialists treat pulmonary and respiratory problems. Related conditions such as chronic bronchitis with acute exacerbation and emphysema are also treated.

Pulmonology Function Lab

The Pulmonary Function Lab can provide testing for patients age 5 years old and older. It also offers spirometry with bronchodilator response, diffusion capacity, lung volumes, methacholine challenge testing, exhaled nitric oxide testing, 6 minute walk and resting pulse oximetry. Pentamadine aerosol treatments are also available. A certified asthma educator staffs the lab, provides asthma education including explanation of disease, identification of triggers, review of proper use of inhaled medication, use of peak flow meter, and the use of an Asthma Care Plan.

Radiation Oncology

Radiation oncologists are doctors who specialize in the use of radiation (X-rays) to treat patients with cancer or other non-cancerous conditions. Consultation with a radiation oncologist, treatment planning, and radiation therapy treatment visits are available at the Strongsville location.

The facility features state-of-the-art radiation therapy technology, including a novel image-guided radiation therapy system called "CT on rails." The system uses a high resolution computed tomography (CT) image just moments before treatment to precisely locate the targeted area and make adjustments as needed.

Radiology

Cleveland Clinic's Division of Radiology offers a full spectrum of radiological services provided by nationally recognized, subspecialized radiologists. The Division of Radiology is one of the leading radiologic academic centers in the world as well as one of the busiest clinical departments in the country. Each year more than 500,000 examinations are performed and interpreted by Cleveland Clinic radiologists. In addition to publishing numerous peer reviewed papers yearly and leading several national organizations, Cleveland Clinic's radiologists are involved in cutting-edge research in several areas. These include treatment of acute stroke, magnetic resonance angiography, three-dimensional imaging, digital radiography, digital mammography, cardiac magnetic resonance, cartilage imaging, electronic image distribution, MRI, CT, mammography, DEXA, ultrasound and intravascular ultrasound.

Rheumatology

Our staff is dedicated to providing complete, state-of-the-art diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for children and adults affected by diseases such as arthritis, bursitis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome and vasculitis.

Spine Center

Experts in back, neck and spine care diagnose and treat people with back problems, including workers with job-related injuries or strains, injured weekend athletes and persons with arthritis or osteoporosis. Patients also can get second opinions regarding the appropriateness of back surgery, which Back and Neck Center experts have found can be avoided in all but a small percentage of patients with low back pain.

Sports Medicine

Our Sports Health program is designed to give the highest possible quality of care to all sports enthusiasts, both amateur and professional. This means high school athletes and weekend warriors are cared for by the same sports medicine specialists who treat the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians.

Urology

Our board-certified urologists provide the latest in diagnostic and treatment techniques for a wide range of urologic conditions in adults and children. These include kidney disease, bladder control, prostate disorders, sexual dysfunction, male infertility, cancer (testicular, bladder, adrenal, prostate and kidney), chronic urinary tract infections and obstructions, and birth defects such as undescended testes and hypospadias.

Vascular Medicine

Cleveland Clinic's Section of Vascular Medicine offers comprehensive care to patients with diseases of the vascular system (blood vessels). A wide range of medical disorders can affect the body's intricate network of arteries, veins, and even tinier blood vessels. Among these conditions are peripheral artery disease, Raynauds, and more. Vascular Medicine specialists diagnose and manage arterial, venous and lymphatic disorders. They also provide acute and long-term care to patients with coagulation and thrombotic abnormalities.

Vascular Surgery
