Children's Condition Center: Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common developmental disorder in children. Symptoms of ADHD are generally grouped into three categories: inattention, hyperactivity (too much activity) and impulsiveness. Children with ADHD are easily distracted by sights and sounds in their environment. Although the cause of ADHD is not yet known, experts do know that there are changes in the brains of people with the condition. ADHD is not caused by home or school situations or by poor parenting.
