Overview
The Respiratory Institute is offering a Scholarship Program to anyone aspiring to become a Respiratory Therapist. It is an opportunity for those who may be faced with a financial hardship yet wish to pursue a professional healthcare career.
About the Program
Recipients of the scholarship could receive up to $10,000. The money will be sent directly to the school and applied to meet student academic expenses (tuition and fees). Scholarship recipients will be provided employment in respiratory therapy at a Cleveland Clinic facility as outlined below. Up to two (2) Scholarships will be awarded per academic year.
Required work commitment
- Year 1 of Respiratory Therapy Program:
- Position: Respiratory Support Technician
- Per diem, variable work schedule
- Year 2 of Respiratory Therapy Program
- Position: Limited Permit Holder
- Fee for Ohio Limited Permit will be reimbursed by Cleveland Clinic
- Per diem, variable work schedule
- Candidates will be required to work full-time with Cleveland Clinic as a Respiratory Therapist for two years following graduation from the two year Respiratory Therapy Program. Work location will be based on business need.
- Position: Limited Permit Holder
- Position: Respiratory Support Technician
Current employees would be eligible for the CCF Tuition Reimbursement
Admission Criteria
Applicants must be enrolled/accepted into a full time accredited associate or baccalaureate degree Respiratory Therapy program. Medical and nursing students are not eligible for this scholarship. The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 college cumulative GPA. If the student has not completed at least one semester in college, the applicant must provide evidence of a minimum 3.0 GPA in high school.
Application Process
Applicant is responsible for the following:
- Completing the online scholarship application
- Uploading FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Completing an observation of Respiratory Therapy at a Cleveland Clinic Facility by contacting Jean Lucas, Administrative Program Coordinator at 216.339.7421 or via email at lucasj1@ccf.org.
- Complete a waiver for references.
- Facilitating the recommendation submission process. Two recommendation forms are required, a reference letter may also be included in addition to the required form. One recommendation must come from an academic faculty member. Additional instructions will be provided during the application process
- Ordering official transcript from your high school, college or university. Your official transcript must be mailed by your academic institution directly to the address below. If your transcript is submitted by you directly it will not be accepted. Once your transcript has been received it will be uploaded to your application by Director Respiratory Therapy.

Applicants are able to check their application status and request automatic updates from the online application system if desired. Review Process
Members of the Cleveland Clinic Respiratory Therapy Leadership team will serve on the review and selection committee.
