Dr. Regueiro’s main clinical and research interest is inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with a focus on the natural course of these diseases and postoperative prevention of Crohn’s disease. He has been instrumental in researching methods of prevention of postoperative Crohn’s disease and has led national and international research in the field. Due to his work, clinical pathways, guidelines, and algorithms of postoperative Crohn’s disease have been created. Recently, he has been involved in developing new models of healthcare, including the first-of-its kind specialty medical home for IBD. This innovative healthcare delivery system has defined the concept of specialty medical home and will lead to further clinical programs and investigation of alternative models of care. Dr Regueiro is embarking on specialty care in population based health and integrating patients, payers, providers, pharmaceutical industry, and other facets of healthcare delivery around these novel programs.
Dr. Regueiro has published extensively on the prevention and management of postoperative Crohn’s disease and genotype-phenotype correlations in IBD. He is the principal investigator on several multicenter, international research trials and conducts clinical research that defines the natural course and phenotypes of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Regueiro has developed a multidisciplinary IBD Center that operates as a state-of-the-art clinic for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr Regueiro has founded the IBD LIVE education series, which is the first virtual education platform in IBD that meets on a regular basis to include programs throughout the country. This work has been published as regular proceedings in the IBD journal and has led to additional innovative educational programs.

Dr. Regueiro's office was wonderful about scheduling a date and time that both Dr. Regueiro could personally preform the procedure and we could drive up from Pensacola, FL to make the appointment. There were a few obstacles that had to be planned around, and there were preliminary tests that had to be taken in Pensacola. Dr. Regueiro's office coordinated everything beautifully!
