About Jaikirshan Khatri, MD

Jaikirshan J. Khatri, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is a cardiologist in the Section of Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.

Specialty Interests: Coronary chronic total occlusion; carotid artery stenting; peripheral interventions, including iliac, femoral, below-knee, subclavian, mesenteric and renal; atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closure (congenital heart defects)

Number of Patients Treated: Physicians in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute annually perform more than 1,600 nonsurgical interventions for heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Khatri has performed more than a thousand coronary and peripheral interventions.

Education and Training:  Dr. Khatri earned a Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, summa cum laude, from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio,  and his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, Ohio. He served his residency and a postdoctoral research fellowship in cardiology at University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Khatri completed his training with fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga.  He joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2016.

Research and Publications: Dr. Khatri has been local principal investigator on a number of studies investigating new therapeutic options for a variety of cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary conditions. He also has co-authored several scientific papers and reviews published in leading medical journals. 

About Dr. Khatri: “The ability to offer patients novel minimally invasive treatment strategies for atherosclerosis is what drew me to this field.  But what I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to build relationships and a bond of trust with my patients. I also take great pleasure in sharing my knowledge and experience with physicians in training.”

Leisure Activities: In his leisure time, Dr. Khatri enjoys photography, foreign travel and spending time with his children.

Dr. Khatri is wonderful. He wants me to loose weight, but rather than just tell me to lose a few #, he actually told me how to do it in a variety of ways. He even shared his personal diet plan which was amazing. He spent the necessary time with me and didn't make me feel rushed and printed out the results of my test for me. Represents the Clinic Super Well! Highly recommend him.
