All persons with diabetes benefit from diabetes education as they learn self-management skills to manage their diabetes and optimize their ability to live a productive and satisfying life.

Your family and friends are invited to join you at any of these programs located at South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights.

Diabetes Education Program

Certified diabetes care and education specialists (CDCESs) are available for one-on-one teaching and support. They cover a variety of diabetes topics, including healthy eating, monitoring, medications, activity, and coping. In addition, the CDCESs at South Pointe provide training and support for people with diabetes who are interested in diabetes technology, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.

Insurance

Outpatient services may be reimbursable when your attendance is by physician referral. Your individual insurance policy defines the extent of your coverage. If you have any questions regarding insurance coverage, call the Diabetes Education Department at 216.491.7385.

Community Support

The Diabetes Management Program at South Pointe Hospital holds a free Diabetes Fair annually. The fair includes presentations from diabetes experts, a cooking demonstration, and a chance to speak to suppliers of diabetes products. The fair is usually held in the Fall.
