When surgical intervention is required for the treatment of cerebrovascular conditions, we use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible and always utilize the most current endovascular technology. Our surgical and endovascular services include:

  • Brain aneurysm surgery
  • Brain aneurysm coiling and stent-assisted flow diversion
  • Carotid artery endarterectomy, a surgical approach to widen carotid vessels narrowed by atherosclerosis
  • Cerebral revascularization surgery (brain bypass)
  • Cerebral and spinal angiography
  • Epistaxis treatment
  • Extracranial to intracranial bypass for Moyamoya disease and cerebrovascular occlusion
  • Gamma Knife® for radiosurgical therapy of intracranial neoplasms such as AVMs of the brain and spine and dural fistulae
  • Multi-modality therapy of AVMs, including open microsurgery, Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery and endovascular embolization
  • Procedural-based treatment options for acute hemorrhagic stroke, including open surgical clipping, endovascular coiling using a wide array of commercially available embolic materials, endovascular liquid embolization through the use of the Onyx® HD-500 and stent and balloon devices to aid in endovascular therapy
  • Stents (flexible tube of wire used to prop open vessels from within) for treatment of intracranial atherosclerosis, carotid stenoses or cerebrovascular dissections including the Wingspan™, Enterprise™, Neuroform™ and Acculink™ stents
  • Tumor embolization
  • Two state-of-the-art flat-panel-detector biplane angiography suites. One located in the operating theatres for easier access to anesthesiology support and the potential for combined surgical/endovascular approaches.

Medical Services

  • Medical treatment options for acute ischemic stroke, including TPA administration, intra-arterial thrombolysis and mechanical revascularization through the use of Merci and Penumbra devices
  • Evaluation and management of risk factors for stroke, aneurysm, and cerebral vascular conditions
  • Familial Aneurysm Clinic for the evaluation and screening of those at higher risk for aneurysms
  • Shared Medical Appointment for a supportive group approach to stroke risk factor modification
  • Stroke Team Clinic for a multi-disciplinary approach to stroke risk factor modification
