What is Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation?

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation (CCCHR) is a medically stable place for babies who have come from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our hospital cares for babies with pulmonary (lung) disease and other problems following birth.

We concentrate on your baby’s feeding and growing, then help you plan for your baby’s discharge home.

Infants are cared for in a home-like, family-centered setting. At CCCHR, your family will have access to a full range of pediatric doctors who specialize in:

  • Development
  • Pulmonary (lungs)
  • Cardiology (heart)
  • Hospital medicine
  • Physical medicine

Our inpatient services stress family education and involvement to ensure a successful discharge. We plan for the shortest possible hospital stay so that your baby can come home with you as soon as medically possible.

How do Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation programs help?

The hospital’s programs focus on:

  • Parent education, including well-baby care, infant feeding, comfort measures, CPR, and developmental therapies.
  • Family-centered education, where parents can room-in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Care for infants with special needs for cardiorespiratory monitors, oxygen, feeding supplies, treatments, and medications. We teach parents these methods of care throughout the discharge process, so parents will feel comfortable doing them before going home.

Working for a successful move home for you and your baby

Rooming-in and visitation are key to a successful discharge. Parents can visit 24/7. All others, including but not limited to siblings and grandparents, are welcome to visit with your approval. When you arrive at CCCHR, you will be asked to give us an approved list of visitors. Only those visitors are permitted in the secure inpatient areas of the hospital.

Our team of experts also coordinate your discharge home to make the transition successful. We schedule outpatient follow-up appointments with a pediatrician and other pediatric specialists familiar with your baby’s special needs. We try to make these visits as convenient to your home as possible.

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation is committed to providing the highest quality of pediatric specialty care services to all babies in a nurturing environment. The goal is to maintain and enhance the care that starts while your baby is in the NICU.
