Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 9/7/2018, Dr. Gebreselassie has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. Dr G. is a very nice physician. I feel at ease at every appointment. He explained so well, and involved me in the plan of care. I always look forward to my next appointment. I'm very grateful to have him as my nephrologist.

Dr. G went above and beyond his duties. I was impressed with him and his kindness. I came to see him for the first time and I was in a lot of pain. He took the time to assess and exam me thoroughly. He went out of his way to accommodate me and my family... even went and supplied us with snacks. He was very encouraging and he assured me that I'm in good hands at the Cleveland Clinic. I was in excruciating peon and he suggested that I go to the emergency room. He walked me there. He actually pushed me in my wheelchair to the ER and he came back and checked on me. He also came down to the ER and brought my labs that were faxed to him from another Dr's office. I never had that type of services before and I'm impressed. Thank you Dr. G. I would definitely recommend people to him. He spent time with us, and he put the human and kindness in medicine!

Dr. G. is an outstanding physician. I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion on an undiagnosed blood pressure condition. He asked in-depth questions and it was obvious he is an EXTREMELY knowledgeable doctor. Very thorough and compassionate. I feel very fortunate to be in his care.

First we were seen by a Fellow (student?) then we had to wait sometime before we saw the Dr. G. Dr. G was truly amazing, we have seen many nephrologist and he is by far the best one we have ever seen, his knowledge and questions were on point. He asked questions and had insights that no DR. has ever had. He took time and asked questions, this is the first time I have felt that we finally have a DR. who really understands the situaiton and cares.
