About Marc Shapiro, MD

Marc Shapiro, MD, was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. He completed his internal medicine training at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., and earned his board certification in internal medicine in 2001. Dr. Shapiro completed his specialty training in medical oncology and hematology at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. He is now an Associate Staff member in the Department of Solid Tumor Oncology at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Shapiro's clinical interests include the treatment of lung, breast, gastrointestinal and occult cancers.

Dr. Shapiro had to tell me my cancer had moved to one of my lungs, and that my prognosis is not great. And I still love the guy. That should tell you everything you need to know about what kind of doctor, and man, he is. He is very caring, and he listens.

Cleveland Cllinic is, in my opinion, a "well oiled machine." Often, they will be calling me at home to finish a task, be it scheduling or returning phone calls, etc..., before I get home after a visit. Dr. Shapiro is excellent, very kind and compassionate and I am, literally, trusting his decisions for my life going forward.

I did not feel rushed at all. It is the most time a doctor has ever spent with me just talking. I felt that I controlled the time with them and that they would sit with me and listen until I was comfortable ending the conversation. That was refreshing.

Dr Shapiro is a dream physician, almost impossible to find the vocabulary to portrait and explain, from beginning of care about 6 years ago till NOW.
