Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 7/18/2018, Dr. Figler has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr. Figler deserves "10" on the aforementioned qualities!!! At age 64-1/2, I had almost lost hope about being able to walk/exercise (as I'd prefer) again. Between the shockwave therapy and his caring (mental health therapy), I HAVE HOPE AGAIN! I'm thankful for such a "go-the-extra-mile" doctor/man!!!

If you had a rating higher than 5, Dr. Figler would get it. HE LISTENS!! He did such a thorough exam/eval and I felt like he not only listened, but understood SO well my concerns as a runner with an injury that made me put my running on hold. Empathetic, compassionate, professional, showed me my x-rays, discussed what we were looking at, ramifications of what we saw, how to best recover from my injury--so much more, including looking at all that related anatomy in the area and what all was happening there. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Figler. I am so grateful to have him as a sports med MD; I KNOW FOR SURE when I go to see him, he's going to do whatever it takes to help me and it's going to be the best thing(s) possible.

Dr. Figer genuinely cares about my well-being, appreciates that I face daily thigh pain/knee discoloration and occupational/recreational challenges, is highly detail-oriented and is clearly a seasoned expert in his field. Most importantly, he looks at patients on a case-by-case basis and never generalizes. I'm grateful to have found him!

i have been seeing Dr Figler for a year and a half about my right knee pain. X-rays were ordered at first but no other test was taken until last week. i have complained about pain the entire time, Dr Figler suggested Physical Theraphy over and over even though it wasnt helping. i tried to get a 2nd cortisone shot earlier this month and he refused and tried to get me to go back to physical therapy. i refused so he finally said i could get an MRI. When my results came back i had a partial tear in my ACL, a partial tear in my meniscus, no cartilage between my bones with significant bone bruising. He said he was surprised that i had so many issues in the knee. i think his care was substandard to make me wait a year and a half before more tests were taken and only then because i refused more physical therapy. He is now hand picking my surgeon and i have misgivings on his recommendation since he was so wrong on my diagnosis.
