Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 12/9/2022, Dr. Sider has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

Dr Darby Sider is an outstanding physician who cares a lot more than usual for her patients.Cleveland Clinic is fortunate enough to have her on its staff and we are lucky enough to have her as our caretaker.

Dr Sider is an outstanding physician. Her knowledge, expertise, kindness and ability to interact with patient is like no other. She is a rarity in today's medical environment - a reminder of the doctor patient relationship a half century ago. I used to return to Boston in addition to care here when I arrived 20 years ago. Since becoming Dr Sider's patient, I have no need to - she is the very best.

My visits to Dr. Syder are always a good experience, she listens and provides feedback within the guidelines that medical condition, and allows for options. It is always a pleasure and with the best experience with her new nurse Wonderfull Doctors are as good as their assistants. Cleveland as well as other practices are not evaluating this relationship.

My provider is such a good physician that her schedule fills up very quickly, so can be difficult to get an appointment.

Dr. Sider is an awesome and very personable clinician. I trust her medical judgment.

Dr Darby Sider is an excellent physician and I am extremely happy with her care.

Reviewed on Aug 31, 2022

The provider was very imposing, not hearing my opinion. She didn't recommend doing blood test for cholesterol indicating it has to be done every 5 years. I've never heard of this! She didn't listen to me. She was very loud short.

I have to book months in advance in order to get an appointment with Dr. Sider

Reviewed on May 9, 2022

I have been seeing Dr. Sider for many years for my annual physical and I like here very much! Not withstanding that, this was the first time that I have felt a little rushed.

Reviewed on May 9, 2022

Fortunately I am very healthy and seeing Dr. Sider once a year for annual physical is fine....but I worry that if I ever have health issues with more need to see the doctor and that it continues to be difficult to get an appointment with Dr. Sider I won't have consistency of care.

Reviewed on Apr 25, 2022

Every aspect is excellent except the 1 year in advance needed to schedule an appointment for the month you need to see the doctor. I would need to schedule with PA, a person I have never met, If I would ever need to see the doctor for an unexpected Issue. The doctor that I trust and am familiar with Is not able to see me when I really need her.

Reviewed on Apr 25, 2022

The reason for rating of POOR in both areas above has nothing to do with Dr. Sider, but the system in place which does not allow flexibility In her schedule to see one of her patients within a week notice of a health concern. Having a physician at a doctors office who is available on a short notice may be a better option for me to recommend to others.
