Conrad Simpfendorfer. MD, FACC, is an Interventional Cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
Specialty Interests: treatment of valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease. He specializes in cardiac catheterization and coronary interventions.

Education and Training: A native of Chile, Dr. Simpfendorfer received his medical degree from Catholic University of Chile, in Santiago, graduating with "Unanimous Distinction." He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed to Cleveland Clinic Staff in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in 1982.
Awards and Honors: Dr. Simpfendorfer received the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in 1994 and from Interventional Cardiology in 2006 and 2016. In 2003, Dr. Simpfendorfer received the SOLACI Award from the Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology for his continued support of educational activities of the Society. In 2006, he was honored by the Universidad Autonoma de Mexico with the Dr. Ignacio Chavez Medal. He was named among the Best Doctors in America for 2007 through 2013. In 2017, he was honored by Fundaliow Cardioinfantil, Colombia in support of education activities. In 2018 received the Cleveland Clinic Distinguished Alumus Award.
Research, Publications and Speaking: A frequent invited lecturer at international medical meetings, Dr. Simpfendorfer has authored more than one hundred articles and book chapters on his specialty interests. He has also served as the primary and co-investigator for numerous clinical studies related to coronary interventions.
Dr. Simpfendorfer is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography (FSCAI), Fellow of the American College of Angiology, Fellow of the Interamerican College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Physicians and the International Andreas Gruentzig Society. He is an Honorary Member of the Cardiology Societies of Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Peru.

Did not like that I didn't meet attending dr performing cath and stent until I was on table and never again. The dr/ fellow who did stents provided Different information and discharge instructions with me than the information that was shared by the Attending Physician with me and my family so very confusing. Also he lacked bedside manner and his tone with nurses was sometimes inappropriate. Just hope his lack of ppl skills means he had excellent technical skills but having more angina post procedure so have concerns

I was truly amazed how everything went so smoothly. itinerary that was sent to me was on time and staff was very professional. dr singe forget was pleasant, professional and explained everything in clear simple terms. Dr Simpfendorfer was fantastic. He took time to understand my issue and concerns. He spent plenty of time with me. i never felt rushed. most importantly he provided answers and his opinion on next steps for my care. He explained everything in a manner that was easily understood. I was very impressed by the doctor and feel good about my decision to come to Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion.
