Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 7/25/2024, Dr. Peereboom has reported the financial relationships with the companies listed below. We are thankful Dr Peerboom is a God-fearing man. When he had given us the devastating news that I had brain lymphoma, he kindly asked, "Is there was anything else I can do for you?" My husband replied quietly,"Just pray for us" Dr Peerboom folded his hands and gently answered, "I work for the Great Physician." We have been blessed again and again with Dr. Peerboom care.

I know that Dr. Peereboom has many patients with complex problems. I am grateful that he takes the time to see me for my MRI follow-up appointments. His advice regarding ancillary care has made a big difference in my recovery. He is very detailed and cautious. These qualities are much needed in oncologists but are not always there.

Dr Peereboom seemed to read my chart for the first time while in the room. He was not present for tumor board, he only admitted that when asked, and seemed generally unprepared for the consult. He entered the room recommending I run a 5k for brain tumor research and 5 minutes later recommended brain surgery as soon as possible, which signaled to us that he was not prepared on me specifically, which translates into not feeling cared about.

I am not sure the video conference is always the best for the Dr evaluations of the patient. As a care giver, I need to make sure I convey as many details as possible to the Dr before the call to make sure they can access the patient properly. I think it is sometimes best for the Dr to see for themselves in person how the patient is doing. I must make sure we are very prepared before the call to give as many details as possible for the Dr to assess the patients condition. I know the Dr is very busy and needs to see lots of patients also, so we need to be fair with his time as well.
