Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 4/1/2018, Dr. Salgado has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. I had an appt at 11 in the morning and I was not with the doctor until 2p. I was taken into a room at like 1:30p and then waited 30 minutes for the doctor and I had to leave to do personal things by 2:30p, I was not informed of a delay and I was not told why I was waiting as long as I had been.

Dr Salgado is caring, knowledgeable, and explained everything in full detail

Dr. Salgado is a great doctor who takes time to listen to his patients.

Reviewed on Sep 24, 2018

We chose Dr. Salgado because we determined him to be an exceptional neurologist and, therefore, requested that my husband see Dr. Salgado specifically. We were told that Dr. Salgado spent a long time with nearly every patient. That was something we appreciated and thought to be as good thing. It definitely was a good thing as he spent a considerable amount of time with us, too. We did not mind the wait.

I live about 30 miles away but I really like Dr. Selgado.

Reviewed on Sep 13, 2018

I appreciate the time my Dr. takes with me when we do meet, so I will wait for him because I know he is taking the time with his other patients to get all their information and do right by them. Another patient was in the waiting room for him also and we both agree..We will wait for him. He is worth it. Always comes in with a big smile and we begin.

Very long wait before seeing the doctor.

Reviewed on Aug 14, 2018

I had a 1.30 pm appointment and was called in the morning to come at 2.00 because the doctor was running late. Arrived at 2.00 and still had to wait 20 minutes before being seen

Reviewed on Aug 2, 2018

Usually the wait time at Cleveland Clinic is short, but on this visit it took longer than normal. Dr. Salgao did take his time with me, so I can understand the delay in wait time if he affords all his patients the same attention.

Reviewed on Jul 23, 2018

Dr. Salgado was more interested to go away than give me more attention to my health issue.

Reviewed on Jul 19, 2018

Dr. Salgado was terrific. After dealing with the initial reason for the visit, he took time to discuss and review two of my other health care concerns (migraines, high blood pressure). If needed, I would certainly schedule any follow-ups with Dr. Salgado.
