After attaining her BS in biology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., Dr. Sands earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1996. She completed her general surgery residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla., followed by a colorectal surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston. Dr. Sands is licensed to practice in the state of Florida.
She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Broward County Medical Association and the
Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Sands writes numerous papers, book chapters and abstracts in her field and presents at major medical meetings and symposia.

Dr Sands was above and beyond excellent! She was kind, compassionate and understanding. She listened carefully and attentively to my symptoms and acted promptly to make sure I received the necessary care. There are not enough positive accolades for me to describe my encounter with Dr. Sands in the office setting as well as the following day in surgery.

My initial appointment was supposed to be in person but the scheduler input a zoom meeting even after confirming the address of your office. I drove an hour to meet with Dr. Sands. When the zoom meeting was rescheduled, Dr. Sands had an emergency. This is understandable. The pre-surgery zoom I finally had with Dr. Sands was just fine - friendly, informative, etc.
