Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 2/24/2020, Dr. Mazzone has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Dr was very helpful in reviewing a CT I had in Youngstown unrelated to, but still showed a past nodule he had biopsied 3 years ago. Happily it was the same or smaller.

Dr. Mazzon is the best doctor in CCF.

Reviewed on Jun 16, 2020

Both the CCF Central Scheduling Dept. Staff and Linda, Dr. Peter Mazzone's Administrative Assistant, did a stellar job scheduling and rescheduling my appointment, with Linda transferring my call to Central Scheduling to schedule CT of the chest following each time the appointment with Dr. Mazzone was scheduled or rescheduled, so that the CT was done shortly before the appointment with Dr. Mazzone. Everyone involved with scheduling and CT did a wonderful job.

Reviewed on Jun 16, 2020

Dr. Peter Mazzone is "head and shoulders" above most doctors. He is brilliant, very knowledgeable, and has the patience of a Saint. He takes a lot of time to show radiology pictures, especially comparing two identical pictures taken several months apart, explaining what the chest CT pictures mean, and explaining what any differences between the chest CT pictures mean, if there are any. I could not ask for a more genuinely compassionate, nice doctor.

Reviewed on Oct 29, 2019

I don't even have to call to make an appointment. The Clinic sends me a scheduled appointment for both my breathing test and my appointment with the doctor about two months ahead of time and at that time I can reschedule if this does not work for me, but I have never had that problem. Now with My chart, I think I can try to schedule my own appointment???
