As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

Dr.Mandell is very knowledgable of my autoimmune disease and understands what I am going through. He provides help with meds and suggestions to treat my disease after listening to changes in my body or new/old symptoms.

Reviewed on Sep 11, 2024

I live in Cincinnati and had my initial visit with Dr. Mandel where he thoroughly recorded my medical history. Following the face to face visit he has followed up with virtual visits. Each visit has been as though we're in the same room. I would highly recommend patients who cannot receive top notch "Cleveland Clinic care" from other sources to make the time to do the virtual visit. There is no personal loss' in the virtual process. Dr.Mandel has been great.

Reviewed on Apr 24, 2024

My appointment with Dr Mandell was schedule by the Cleveland Clinic National Consultation Service and I did not schedule myself directly. The appointment could have been sooner, however Rheumatology is always a long wait pretty much nationwide so I understand why there was a wait and I was glad to do so as long as it meant I would get a doctor that would understand and listen at the end of that wait

Reviewed on Apr 24, 2024

Dr. Mandell was very thorough in his questioning of my symptoms, health history, and in my physical examination. He took time to listen (and I have a LONG list of heath complaints and symptoms), took time to go through my medical records that were sent previously, discussed options of returning to the Cleveland Clinic to see Dr. Bender with the EDS Clinic in the future, and was thorough in his opinion on what has been causing my unknown health problems from years now. I've seen three rheumatologists previously (not with the Cleveland Clinic) and my appointment with Dr. Mandell was by far the longest and most thorough. I think he spent like 1 hour and 15 minutes with me or somewhere around that. He never seemed rushed.

Reviewed on Apr 17, 2024

Dr Mandel is an excellent physician. Thoughtful, caring, listens to concerns and provides excellent advice

The Endocrinologist recommended Ozempic to me and I told Dr Mandela and he agreed, then when I told him of my problems with constipation he told me to ask my gastroenterologist first, which is what I did. So Dr took my worries into consideration.

Reviewed on Mar 15, 2024

The appointment felt rushed and I got the impression initially that the doctor felt my being there was a waste of his time. At one point In the very beginning, I was fighting back tears of frustration because I felt so belittled. I was not confident he remembered much about me and there were even things that he had put in the visit notes from the initial visit that he did not seem to either remember or refresh himself on using said notes-- for example, he asked me about a medication I take and its efficacy, which was noted in the initial visit notes. He did ask me what I thought we should do, but at the point he asked it, it didn't feel like I should have been asked as I didn't have all the information I needed, and I'm coming to a doctor because I'm not sure what to do. By the end of the appointment, it felt like he was at least more convinced that I wasn't a total waste of his time, and he described a plan that sounded satisfactory to me by that point. I asked a question and he seemed to give it genuine consideration and answered it in a way that seemed satisfactory to me. I had a similar experience during my initial visit. To be honest, I really, really do not like how appointments go with Dr. Mandell, but at the same time, he seems to arrive at reasonable conclusions after some convincing and reminding, and I feel like the plan for my care is appropriate at this time. I think his appointment manner could use a lot of work, because he does not seem to be interested in listening until he is convinced that it's worth his time.

Dr Mandell actually listened to me and my concerns. Very thorough!!
