Prior joining Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Dr. Salzberg served as the Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital System and as a Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Practicing since 1987, Dr. Salzberg is best known as the pioneer of Direct to Implant or “one-step” breast reconstruction which replaces the traditional tissue expander method. Dr. Salzberg’s first Direct to Implant procedure was done in 2001; since then he has reconstructed more than 1,500 breasts on more than 950 patients as part of breast cancer treatment or prevention for women at high risk of breast cancer due to a BRCA mutation or family history. Dr. Salzberg is also internationally recognized in fat transfer for revision breast reconstruction along with breast augmentation for aesthetic surgery.
He graduated from the University of Florida School of Medicine, where he earned a Medical Doctorate in 1981. Dr. Salzberg completed a residency in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel (then known as Beth Israel Medical Center, 1981-87) and a Plastic Surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital (1984-87).

Dr Salzberg is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He's kind and caring and so informative. I feel like Im in good hands with him. He truly cares about my health and well being. I had an issue that required immediate attention and they got me in right away. As with all my other visits, this one was wonderful.

Dr Salzberg is a wonderful doctor. He makes me feel like a person, not a number. He truly cares about my health and recovery. He spent alot of time with me, answering all my questions, making sure I felt comfortable before I left. I have recommended him to others and will continue to do so. He is a brilliant doctor and I feel lucky to have him as my doctor. He makes me feel safe and seen. As a cancer patient, Its so important to be able to trust your doctors with your life. I trust Dr. Salzberg implicitly with mine.
