Dr. Marc Alain Babi serves as the Cleveland Clinic Florida Region, chief of neurocritical care, medical director of neurology at Cleveland Clinic Florida Martin Health, and program director of the comprehensive stroke center at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital. He is also the chair of ethics at Cleveland Clinic Florida Martin Health. Dr. Babi focuses his clinical practice in the specialized field of neuro-critical care and the management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients. Dr Babi is a board-certified neuro-intensivist (ABPN and UCNS) and board-certified neurologist (ABPN). He completed his undergraduate training at Cornell University, medical training (M.D) at Weill Cornell Medical College; residency training in neurology at the University of Vermont, where he served as chief resident; and neurocritical care fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center, where he served as chief fellow. Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic in 2022, Dr. Babi was appointed at the University of Florida (UF) Shands Hospital, from 2017 to 2022, where he served as the neurocritical care fellowship director, neurology residency associate director, and neurology clerkship associate director.
Dr. Babi is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, most recently, the 2024 Cleveland Clinic Nightingale physician-nursing collaboration award, 2024 Cleveland Clinic Physician Excellence award, 2023 Neurocritical care society presidential citation award, 2022 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Residency-Fellowship Director Award, Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Society Award, AAN Award and UF College of Medicine Exemplary Teacher Award in 2021 and 2019. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Heart/Stroke Association and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr Babi’s research interests include systems of care integration in healthcare, innovation in the delivery of healthcare and clinical trials pertaining to intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Dr Babi is the primary investigator of several NIH (National Institute of Health) funded clinical trials pertaining to acute hemorrhagic stroke, and acute ischemic stroke.
