About Andrew Higgins, MD

Andrew Higgins, MD, is a clinical cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Main Campus.

Specialty Interests: Systolic heart failure, amyloidosis, cardiac critical care, cardiogenic shock 

Experience: Dr. Higgins specializes in critical care cardiology. He is experienced in caring for patients with advanced heart failure and those requiring specialized cardiovascular therapy for serious, acute, or unstable cardiac problems.Dr. Higgins is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and critical care medicine.

Education: Dr. Higgins is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, Colorado. After completing his residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, New York, he was awarded a three-year fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic. He continued his subspecialty training here with sequential fellowships in cardiac critical care and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, serving as chief fellow during his final year of training.

Dr. Higgins was appointed to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2021 on completion of his heart failure fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Higgins has coauthored scientific papers published in leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, primarily on topics in heart failure and cardiac critical care. He also has coauthored chapters in cardiology reference books, as well as posters and abstracts presented at American College of Cardiology meetings and scientific sessions.

Had echo scheduled before seeing Dr Higgins procedure went great time wise.But was required to wait 1 1/2hrs to see the doctor. Better scheduling would be nice.

Dr. Higgins has been a godsend to me. He is the only doctor that has addressed some issues that my other doctors have known about four years and he is the reason that I feel much better today than I have in the past two years.
